    • Back in October I walked the South Downs Way with @patrickofsussex and things didn’t go exactly to plan. • Back in November I tried ‘Forest Bathing’ for the first time. Put simply, its like a mindfulness session in a forest environment - but it is also so much more than that. I wrote about the experience for @thryveworld. • Thank you so much for all your kind and uplifting words on my last post, they truly mean a lot to me. It’s small snippets of connection and kindness like those that have helped me through the last year and I am grateful. Social media can be super negative and I’ve barely used it as a result over the last 12 months but there’s also so much good that comes from it too ✨ here’s another image from my New Year’s Day walk with my friend Joe, exploring Samphire Hoe on the Kent Coast. I loved photographing this quirky modern lighthouse set against the windswept white cliffs 🌊 #samphirehoe #kent #explorekent #visitkent #england #visitengland #lighthouse #seaside #seaview #accessiblewalks
    • This week I began my 29th year around the sun. And even though I feel like age really shouldn’t mean all that much, the last year before I turn 30 conjures up feelings of poignancy.
.
.
My 20’s feel like they have been mostly consumed by grief. I’ve suffered so much loss over the last 10 years that I’m terrified that I’ll never fill the emptiness that’s been left behind. I’m mourning 4 very empty seats at my table, and a whole other life that I can no longer live.
.
.
Learning to grow as a young woman and navigate everyday life through so much heartache has been tough. The usual pressures of life alone are often enough to break a person but somehow I’ve made it through. I think I can be proud of that. Even though standing here now at the other side, is an extremely weary soul.
.
.
But I recognise that I am lucky to be here. I am lucky to age, lucky to have more birthdays, lucky to continue to live this life. Lucky to still have a chance to live an altered version what I dream of. I am grateful for that.
.
.
So in my 29th year, I want to stop mourning the life-I-was-supposed-to-live. And to do so I need to stop sitting in the waiting room of the one I am living. I need to live it. Warts and all.
.
.
It starts with swapping a victim mentality for the one of a survivor. With banishing fear. With appreciating things for as they are. Living in the moment, being present, acceptance, gratitude, grace. .
.
.
It’s not going to be easy, but it will definitely be worthwhile.
    • I hope everyone has had a wonderful first 9 days of 2019 ✨ I’ve eased into it gently, beginning with a New Year’s Day photography walk at Samphire Hoe with my lovely friend @joe_richardson to blow away to cobwebs by the sea.
.
.
I’ve also been having a bit of clear out, both of clutter at home and online. If you’ve visited my blog recently, you may have noticed that most of my posts are missing and things look a little different. I just feel like I need to have a clear out and a spruce up around the place in order to move forward in a way which feels good. They will be back soon, but after a freshen up. Tidy house, tidy blog, tidy mind. #samphirehoe #dover #seaside #lighthouse #bythesea
